چکیده
Two types of cytochrome P450 2D14 (CYP2D14) gene deletions (GD1 and GD2) in Japanese Black cattle has been reported by us. In this study, we determined the frequency of cytochrome P450 2D14 (CYP2D14) genetic polymorphisms in 48 Japanese Black (JB) and 48 Holstein-Friesian (HF) cattle using polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-direct sequencing. Two types of CYP2D14 gene deletion variants, GD1 and GD2, were observed 58% in JB cattle, but only 8% of HF cattle. Genotype frequencies of CYP2D14 gene (105 C>A) also were assessed, but the AA substitution was not detected. The results of CYP2D14 gene variation study in cattle show that CYP2D14 GD allele may be an important mutation relevant to an enzyme defect in JB cattle because of high frequency of gene deletion variants. Polymorphism of Prion Protein Gene (PRNP) in Iranian Holstein and Two Local Cattle Populations (Golpayegani and Sistani) of Iran
Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is a fatal infectious neurodegenerative disease in cattle, characterized by the accumulation of an abnormal, proteaseresistant prion protein (PrPSc) in the brain. BSE is similar to scrapie in sheep and goats and Creuzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans. Susceptibility in cattle hasbeen shown to be under the influence of two polymorphic locations, which are...
متن کاملSequence variation of bovine prion protein gene in Japanese cattle (Holstein and Japanese Black).
To assess relationships between nucleotide polymorphisms of the prion protein (PRNP) gene and susceptibility to bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), we investigated polymorphisms in the open reading frame (ORF) and 2 upper regions of the PRNP gene from 2 Japanese cattle breeds: 863 healthy Holstein cattle, 6 BSE-affected Holstein cattle, and 186 healthy Japanese Black (JB) cattle. In the ORF...
متن کاملReproductive Performance for Holstein Friesian × Arsi and Holstein Friesian × Boran Crossbred Cattle
The study was carried out at Agarfa ATVET College dairy farm to evaluate the reproductive performance of Holstein Friesian× Arsi and Holstein Friesian ×Boran cattle. For the study, records compiled from 1983 to 2012 at the Agarfa dairy farm were used as original data. The effects of breed, bloodlines, season and parity on the reproductive traits were evaluated. Data were analyzed using the gene...
متن کاملAssociation of TG-repeats in the 5’-flanking region of bovine growth hormone receptor (GHR) gene with milk production traits and somatic cell count in Holstein cattle
The growth hormone receptor (GHR) is a member of cytokine/hematopoietin family that mediates the biological actions of growth hormone (GH) on target tissues. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the association of TG-repeat polymorphisms in the 5’-flanking region of bovine GHR gene with milk production traits and somatic cell score (SCS) in Holstein cattle of Iran. The part of 5’...

Intramuscular fat (IMF) deposition is a physiological process in cattle and is highly variable among breeds suggesting a large influence of genetic factors besides environmental factors. In order to elucidate molecular pathways underlying the genetic variation in this trait we compared transcriptomes of Musculus longissimus dorsi (MLD) in steers of Japanese Black and Holstein Friesian cattle br...
